Key Design Features

  • 6m x 3.9m building.

Project Challenges

The challenges of some projects are not always visible from the final outcome photos and this was the case here.  As with a lot of gardens, there are legacy structures and features that become constraints on the project, access restrictions to overcome and planning and building regulations to adhere to.  This was the case with this project.  A legacy concrete base from a sectional garage, a garden only accessible through the property and a garden with no wiggle room on either side to comply with the 1m boundary building regulations rule, for buildings over 15 square meters, to comply with.

The constraints put extra focus on the planning and design phase for this project, there is little point designing a building with a door that can’t transit through the twists, turns and doorways of a property!  Accurate measurements from two site visits allowed us to produce foundation plans that avoided the legacy concrete base and ensured the 1m building regulations rule wasn’t breached.  All this while creating a space that meets the usage requirements of the customer.  This build highlights the importance of the design phase of a project, which, if done right, will avoid problems and delays during the build process.
