Project Challenges
A garden room used as a home gym is a fantastic addition to your property and lifestyle. One of the main considerations for gym use can be the internal head height. With normal restrictions from the permitted development rules, allowing an external height of 2.5m, achieving the required internal height can sometimes be a challenge.
Sometimes the ground fall can work in your favour and with this project, this was the case. The ground falling away from the rear to the front allowed a slight excavation of the site before the build took place to flatten off. At the customer’s request, we fitted a black protective band to the lower edge of the structure and bark would be used to build back up to the original ground level at the rear.
This all resulted in a 2.5m external height, complying with permitted development rules on external height, additional internal height for the planned gym use and a satisfied and happy customer.
